Hello Eagles, I just have a few quick things I wanted to share with everyone. If you see Chris, Larry or Steve please thank them for being the only three guys that could make it down to the field to empty the container this past weekend. I wanted to be there myself but was unable to attend and those guys got everything of importance out and did a great job so thanks. On this same note the water as of April 7th at 8pm was 20 feet from the gate on the South side and hopefully that is as far as it gets. I know at the last meeting there were some questions about the TAG program. I can tell you with a 99.9% certainty that we got it. The check is supposed to be in the mail as of two days ago so until we get it I can’t be 100% but it should be a go for TAG please stay tuned for more information. Again a big thanks to all the members who made this happen and epically to Bob Kilmon he was and still is a big part of our TAG endeavor. Field Cleanup has officially moved to May 2nd same time and place as before. I know some of you are saying why is this change happening and why not use the rain date. There were many regulars that were unable to make the first date we picked and since those are the guys that are a big part of making things possible we opted to change the date and still have the 9th as a rain day. We also know that Mothers Day can tend to be a weekend and not just a day so we were trying to stay away from the 9th for this reason as well. I hope this did not mess up any ones plans and sorry if it did but, this is a change hopefully for the best. Please keep an eye out for more changes as they may come up. Also June 14th is the three club fun fly at the Tigers Derry field. Chris and I spoke with Bob Kilmon about this and things are moving along very well. If you are thinking about flying on the 14th of June this is the place to be. Food, fun and if everything goes well prizes for those lucky few who win. We would like a few people who are planning on going to give us and the Tigers a little help with setup and whatever else they might need so if that is possible please let Chris or myself know and as always any help is greatly appreciated. That’s all for now thanks and hope to see you at the field soon, Eric

Field Cleanup!!!!!

clock March 19, 2009 09:16 by author Safety

Hello Eagles,

As most of you know the snow is melting, days are getting longer and the field is in need of some TLC!!!  Come one come all to our annual field clean up day Saturday April 25, 2009 at 8 am.  For those of you new to the club this is when we put a little time and energy in to make the field look as nice as possible.  If you own power equipment and would like the chance to use it, this is your chance and if you don't, trust me we will keep you busy.

We tried to set the date early enough this year in the hopes that we will get a good turnout, even if it is just an hour or two any time you can give is helpful.  This year we also set a rain date of May 9th so keep an eye on the calendar and e mails a few days before April 25th and we will keep things updated.  Just an FYI this is also a "MUD" date if you have been down to the field lately you know that the current state of the parking lot and field is less than dry and we want to give ourselves and the club our best, this means if the field is so wet that we will be getting equipment, trucks or people stuck in mud and make an even bigger mess than the date will get pushed back.  Like I said please keep an eye on the calendar and your e mails for updates.

We have come up with a list of things to keep people busy and it is as follows.

We still have hopes of clearing the Northern Left side of the field to expand the runway.  We will hopefully be getting a tractor similar to last year and we are working on the possibility of a small bulldozer to aid in the removal of some stubborn underbrush that we had issues with in the past.  With this equipment we also plan on fixing the parking lot ruts, road, and digging up the gate to add cement to the pivit end and fix broken pieces on the wood and wire side.

Although this sounds fun we don't have enough heavy equipment for everyone.  Chainsaws, brush cutters, weed whackers, flail mowers and anything else that can cut small trees are also wanted.  We want to take out many of the small trees and underbrush around the field on both sides of the river to give people a little more room for low landings coming in from the north as well as a little more room to play for those flying combat this year.

As always we appriciate the help from everyone that comes and we all know that it is the faithful members that will keep this club running.  Our hope is to "try" and provide food again like last year please keep your eyes open for updates and changes and feel free to contact me with questions, comments or concerns.

Your Safety Officer,

Eric Boucher

P.S. If any one is friendly with rental shops that might be willing to donate equipment to our not for profit club for the day please let me know.

Eagles Cup Sunday

clock January 31, 2009 06:26 by author Safety
Hey everyone do not forget about Eagle’s cup on Sunday. If you have a plane that will roll and loop than this is the event for you. If you missed Frozen Fingers it is time to get down to the field and compete. Ask anyone that went down that day it was an absolute blast with just the right amount balsa breakage thrown in for a laugh or two (maybe a tear). Weather you went or not it was days like that make flying RC a blast and I think we need more of them. Rules are below, be prepared for a little twist and bring your A game this is a new year and I know a lot of people want #1 spot on the leader board.

Dicey Roops
The pilot will roll 2 dice before the start of the flying part of the event. The pilot must do 1 roll plus 1 loop (roop) for the number rolled on the dice and then land to roll the dice again. Time will start when the plane leaves the ground and will end when the pilot rolls his number again after the roops are completed. The pilot must change direction to initiate the sequential roops (do a 180 degree turn for the next roop).
