Directions:
The nearest city to Greenfield State Park is Peterborough, New Hampshire. From
the West, get to Peterborough and pick up Rt 136 East from Rt 202. Follow Rt 136
for 7 miles to the park. From the South and Massachusetts, take Rte 3 North to
Exit 8 at Nashua and follow 101 West. From the Manchester/Nashua area follow Rte
101 West through Milford. Look for the Wilton Business District sign, take that
right at the light. At the end of the business district, go straight onto Rte 31
North. Follow into Greenfield Village and the junction of Rte 31 and Rte 136.
Stay straight on Rte 136 West for almost a mile, look for the park sign, turn
right 100 yds to the park entrance. Mileage to the park from Wilton and Rte 31 N
is 10 miles. One more thing, Rte 31 is a country road, please watch your speeds
through the villages. All are vigorously enforced!
Early arrivers can get to the beach by taking the access road to camp
sites 1 - 25 and use the cross-over road between sites 19 and 21.
If you arrive before 8:30am on the days of the event, the road to the beach may
have the access gate closed. Just turn around, take a left on the main road
heading to the ranger station. The access road to sites 1 - 25 is on your left
just after the station house. If you have any problems, call the CD on his cell
phone, 603-801-3167 and we will send someone up to show you the way.
Event Details:
This is an AMA sanctioned fly-in, all AMA rules apply. Each aircraft will
be subject to a safety inspection before flying and after any crash repairs. No
running of engines allowed in the pit area. All pilots must be accompanied by
a spotter for each flight, no exceptions! Friday afternoon is open flying
after the site is set up. Flying begins Saturday and Sunday at 7:00am for
electric entries, 9:00am for all others and ends at 5:30pm. A 12:30 to 1pm
break will occur each day when non-flying vehicles may be operated.
Fees:
The participant event fee is $10 for the weekend, plus your
admission to the park. Greenfield State Park has set aside 25 special
sites for our participants
wanting to camp. These sites are conveniently located close to the event beach
and have bathhouse, dump station and potable water nearby. Dogs are not
permitted in these sites, you will have to use the pet camping area. Your
campsite fee is collected by the park ranger when you check in. Call the
contest CD, Joel Chappell at 603-673-6240 to reserve one of these sites. If you
don't camp, a $2.50 day use fee is collected by the park ranger at the
entrance gate. As a courtesy to the participants, the camp store will be
used to house and charge our planes overnight. Bring an extra power
strip to share if you have them.
NOTE: New Hampshire State Law prohibits pets on public beaches. Please do not bring your dogs to the flying event. Thanks!
If you need special directions, a list of accommodations, or other info please contact Joel Chappell, CD, home phone 603-673-6240 or email Joel.B.Chappell@verizon.net
