AMA Club #2417

Bylaws of the SNH Flying Eagles R/C Club

As of Nov 2003

 General

 1.        Anyone controlling a model RC aircraft at the field without supervision is required to be a current AMA member.

2.        Noise control: No matter what the size, the engine, plane, prop, and muffler combination at maximum RPM must not exceed 97 dB at 9 feet.

3.        It is each member’s responsibility to keep the flying area, pit area and parking area clean and free of debris and trash. Each member must dispose of his own trash.

4.        All members are expected to help keep the field in good flying condition and participate in field work parties.

5.        Only club members and guests accompanied by a club member may fly at the club field. Any guest must be an AMA member and may fly up to 2 days per year for free at our flying fields. (Exclusive of contests, club events, and the Intro Pilot Program)

6.        These Bylaws can be amended by simple majority vote of members present at a regular club meeting after notification of the proposed changes in the Newsletter prior to the meeting.

Flight Operations

1. All members must agree to abide by the Club Safety Rules.

2. During AMA or club sanctioned events, the CD may waive specific flight operations and safety rules for purposes of the event.

3. An experienced pilot, using a comprehensive checklist for aircraft inspection, shall assist all inexperienced flyers in a preflight check before the first flight.

4. Only those persons who have passed the club’s flight proficiency exam are allowed to fly solo at the field. Only club approved instructors may give proficiency exams.

5. Hours of operation for aircraft with internal combustion engines are 10 AM until dusk.  Gliders and electric powered aircraft may fly from dawn until dusk.

 Instructors

 1. The club will establish and maintain a group of qualified instructors to teach flying skills to new pilots.

2. Each instructor will be required to pass a flight test annually to verify skills necessary to instruct.

3. A Head Instructor will be appointed annually by the Officers to run and manage this program.

 Enforcement

 1.   Unsafe aircraft or unsafe practices should be brought to the attention of the pilot immediately by any member.

2.   Any club Officer or Instructor can declare an aircraft not airworthy and ground it until repaired.

3.   Members who violate or disregard Club Safety Rules on a consistent basis after being warned could have their membership revoked by a majority vote of  the Officers.

Membership

1. All Members must agree with the following statements:

1.        "I recognize a model airplane is not a toy, and must be operated at all times in a safe manner.

2.        "I agree not to hold the Southern New Hampshire Flying Eagles Radio Control Club, and my instructor, if I am receiving instruction, responsible or liable in any way for injury, loss or property damage I may suffer due to any reason, including but not limited to pilot error or mechanical failure.

3.        "I agree I will not fly at any SNHFERCC field or event without an active instructor, until I have been approved for solo flight.

4.        "I certify I have read the Academy of Model Aeronautics National Safety Code, and agree to abide by its terms and conditions at all times."

5.        “I certify that I have read and understand, and agree to abide by, the SNHFERC Club Safety Rules.”
