SNHFE Meeting Minutes: Nov 5, 2003

 Meeting Called to order at 7:32 by Frank Phillips.  

Today’s attendance is about 21 members.

 New members/ guests: Bruce Gruenbaum, Larry & Tom, Jay & Ben.

 Officer Reports:

President: Frank Phillips

VP: Jim Burns: absent

Treasurer: Jim Austin: Treasury reported. 116 members. 117 gallons of fuel to date.  Raffle prize is a prop balancer.   Its time to renew your AMA and club memberships.

Secretary: Dave Majchrzak:  JR buddy box was repaired by Horizon Hobby (for free) and has been put back into container.  Club by-laws and new member applications have been updated to reflect the pro-rated dues structure for first-year new members.  New documents are available on the club website.

Field Marshall:  Duane was absent. 

Safety:  Dave Beach: No injuries reported, but a couple of accidents:  1- Engine flew off a test stand during break-in. 2- wing failure during flight had plane and engine go down behind the Railroad tracks.  If you lose control, yell “heads up” and point at it.  Also: There was a hobby related death in Houston, TX.  Helicopter student in training lost control of chopper, instructor was killed…

 Old business

bulletToys for Tots report: 10 or 15 people showed up. 63 toys and $153 were collected by the Marines on that dreary day.  Bob LaCroix was MC and sound man.  Unfortunately, only 1 toy was donated through RC Buyers.  Plans for next year include getting on the Ch 9 Toys for Tots website.  Joe Marrone is planning on writing an article for Bob Kraft on our TFT.
bulletMerrimack High School FIRST program: Program also had a toy donation box for TFT.  SNHFE club may donate an RC transmitter (75Mhz)  to this program that promotes technology in schools.  Next years project includes controlling a robot using an RC transmitter.

 New business:

bulletWe need officers!  New President, VP, Field Marshall will be elected in Feb ’04! 
bulletBill Bootle had a handout detailing 5 possible locations for our club banquet.  Included were: Silo’s, Madden’s, Hannah Jack’s, Ya Mama’s, and Michele’s.  Banquet tentatively scheduled for 3rd Sunday in January.
bulletNext meeting (December 3rd) is the Yankee swap.  Please bring food or beverage to share along with a $10-$15 wrapped gift related to flying.  Festivities kick off at ~7pm.
bulletDave Beach volunteered to CD the Frozen Fingers Fun Fly.
bulletClub needs a new stove for the winter,  Brian Henderson said he’d try to weld something up for the club.
bulletJoe Marrone had a handout describing the latest RTF trainer with a twist.  The Hobbico Nexstar comes with AFS: a variable gain optical horizon seeker.  Instructors need to be aware of this device.
bulletA member made a request for more instructors during training days.
