SNHFE Meeting Minutes: April 2, 2003

Meeting Called to order at 7:34pm by Frank Phillips.
Attendance at about 20 members.

New members/ guests: none.

Officer Reports:
President: – Frank: Primary focus of the meeting is to ratify the budget. Budget handouts were passed out to all attendees.

VP: Jim was absent.

Treasury: Approximately $6800 in the treasury.
139 members, 97 renewals so far for 2003

Secretary: March newsletter was accepted as printed by voice vote.

Field Marshall: Duane: Brian H. back-dragged the parking lot for us. The field is partially flooded.

Safety: Dave Beach: No safety problems reported. This month’s tip: “keep it in front of the flight line”

Newsletter Editor: Mark: New look and feel to the newsletter.

From the floor:
A few members mentioned that they had difficulty reaching our website at certain times. Frank mentioned that web access appear ok to him using Internet Explorer 6.0

Old business:
Flea Market: Frank said that as of this meeting zero tables had been sold. He asked for a show of hand of those interested in buying a table. 5 members showed interest.
Dave Beach: Shirts and hats with club logos are still for sale.

New business:
Joe Marrone spoke of the “kids college” activity the club is sponsoring. It involves a dozen or so gifted kids getting together with some club members to build and fly a delta dart. The building portion will be April 26th and May 3rd from 9am to Noon at the Merrimack YMCA. The flight tests with intro pilot instruction will be on June 8th with a rain-date of June 22nd. This is an important opportunity for SNHFE to do some community service. Volunteers are encouraged.
Frank said the next field cleanup will probably be before the next Eagles Cup event on May 4th.
Frank spoke of the “Michael Lidman” police chase. He was called by the Union Leader. Thankfully, no calls came from the town. Mr. Lidman was a member of the club over 4 years ago but not since then. Frank also spoke with the AMA about the incident.
Joe Marrone was recently reminded that our club at one time agreed to make a video on RC airplane construction and flight and give it to a town official for possible community access TV use.
Dave Beach: Daylight savings time is here and so is Tuesday evening training. Estimated 5-5:30pm start on Tuesdays. Mark Duckworth said he would be available to instruct on Thursday evenings if requested.

Budget: Frank announced that this budget will be the first deficit budget. The plan is to spend ~$340 into the treasury with the purpose of field/parking lot improvement. Approximately $1500 is budgeted for those improvements. Much of this cost is offset by using a more accurate estimate of membership income.
Steve Ferrency proposed a motion to accept the budget as presented. Bob Sylvester seconded the motion. A show of hands vote unanimously accepted the budget.
