AMA Club #2417

Minutes of February 6, 2002 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 by Frank Phillips.

Two new members introduced themselves.

Frank thanked all the officers and other members who worked to support the club activities in the past year. He announced the 2001 club award winners, and Eagles Cup winners. He talked about how fun the fun-fly events are, even for beginners. This year, 70% of the income will go back to the winners.

Vice-President’s report
Jim was not present.

Treasurer’s Report
Treasury has about $7000, with about 135 members, but about 83 have paid for 2002 so far.

Field Marshall Report
Al is taking care of getting the field parking lot plowed, and making sure the plow guy gets paid. Field is smooth and icy.

Newsletter Editor
Keep the contributions coming, for the newsletter and website. Members-only section of the club website is now open.

Safety Officer
Joe said we had only one major accident this year, which is not bad for all the flying the club does.

Other Business
Mark Versprille gave a summary of the FFFF event. More details were in the last newsletter.

Al Fisher is the new caretaker of the club video library.

April is show-and-tell at the regular club meeting. We still need someone to volunteer to run the event. We will be raffling a Northeast Aerodynamics profile warbid kit.

The 2002 calendar is mostly filled in, on the website. There are many events.

Bob Sylvester said some people have been concerned that some students are flying too long, and flight times should be limited. Most people don’t see a problem, nobody present was in favor of limiting flight times.

We talked a bit about the Merrimack landfill as a potential future flying site. We’d like to find some more Merrimack residents to help stay in touch with the Solid Waste Advisory Committee regarding their plans for the landfill.

We discussed cutting more brush and trees around the field. Frank still wants to pursue arranging with the landowner to the south for us to cut some of those trees.

Elections:
We elected the following officers:
    President – Frank Phillips
    VP – Jim Burns
    Treasurer – Jim Austin
    Secretary – Mark Duckworth
    Newsletter Editor – Dave Beach
    Field Marshall – Duane Mallows
    Safety Officer – Mark Versprille

The meeting adjourned at 8:35, for the raffle and more plane building.
