Minutes of February 7, 2001 Meeting The meeting was called to
order at 7:35 by Joel Chappell. Treasurer’s
Report We made about $10 on the January fun fly event.
We received $200 for the Toys for Tots event, from Joe Marrone’s
efforts, from R/C Hobby Trade Assoc. Paid
$225 for plowing. Treasury has
$4300, with 108 members, 69 paid members through end of January. Field
Marshall Report Snow
plowing has been good, field in good condition. Safety
Officer Nothing
to report this month. Newsletter Merrimack
winter carnival was a good event. Frank
Phillips, Jim Burns, Mark Duckworth, and Dick Zoerb were there with planes. New
members/Guests Four
new members/guests were here. A
father and son interested in learning to fly a helicopter, and two other people
building planes and wanting to learn to fly. Old
Business Frozen
Fingers Fun Fly was a big success. Please
volunteer to help Bob Spear with the float fly this year. Joel
and Frank presented some awards: Jim Burns, Eagles Cup first
place. Mark Duckworth, Eagles Cup
second place. Andy Farkas, Eagles Cup third
place. Moso Lee, most improved pilot. Mark Versprille, most unusual
aircraft at float fly. Joel A. Chappell, service
award for float fly plane retrieval. Jim Burns, service award for
instructing. Joe
Marrone sent an appreciation certificate to a pilot with a JATO plane at the
float fly, and received a thank you and a video tape back from him. The
Merrimack Selectmen approved our field name. Flea
market date changed to April 14th, at the church. New
Business Auction
in Vernon CT, on February 11th, sponsored by Northern CT RC Club. Salem
Barnstormer’s auction March 25th, Methuen KofC, Rt 28 behind
Dunkin’ Donuts. Elections – Newsletter Editor, Dave Beach.
