AMA Club #2417

Minutes of January 3, 2001 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 by Joel Chappell.

Treasurer’s Report

We have about $3687.36 in the treasury.  $920 of that is in the capital fund.  We have 107 members through end of December.  48 of those have renewed for 2001.

Field Marshall Report

The combination on the locks at the field is changing to 1986.

Safety Officer

Nothing to report this month.

Newsletter

Spellchecker was off this month, will try to correct it for next time.  Frank gets 15 newsletters from surrounding clubs.  He says ours is much better than any other area club.  Frank thanked the previous newsletter editors for a great job getting our newsletter in good shape.

New members/Guests

Three guests were at the meeting, all desiring to get into the hobby and get some help getting started.

Old Business

Merrimack Selectmen meeting on Jan 4th has our field naming on the agenda.  Joe, Mark, and Frank are planning to attend.

Frozen Fingers Fun Fly – Dick Easton - Jan 14th.  Pilot’s meeting at 10:00.  We will have stew, brownies, coffee, hot chocolate, etc.  Still looking for a few more volunteers.  $5 for an entry, including food, $2 or $3 for an additional airplane.  There was some discussion about whether or not to groom the field, and when.

Gerry is arranging the club banquet at Florence’s in Merrimack, January 19th.  This is a change from the original date of the 20th.  Cost is $19.50 per person.

New Business

Flea market – We’ll try to get the church room for Sat. April 21st.

Show and Tell – at the April 4th meeting.

Fall Float Fly – Bob needs more help for the event this year.  We need to get about 30 people signed up to help.  The date is Fri – Sat, Sept 14 – 16.  The members present all showed strong support for Bob and the event.  Bob and some other lead volunteers will be calling other club members to ask for help.

There was some discussion about how to get more members to volunteer to work at more club events.  We thought making participation mandatory for membership renewal would not work.  Bob Lacroix said phone calls to ask for some specific help will probably work best.

Nominations for officers are coming up.  Mark and Steve are running again for their offices.  Joel and Ed are not running again.  Frank is running for VP.  Still looking for people to run for president, newsletter editor, safety officer, and field marshal.

Mark Versprille suggested we give a lifetime membership to Bob Lacroix, recognizing all the service he has given the club.  The club unanimously agreed.

Frank Bove suggested all club presidents also be given a lifetime membership.  There was discussion about a single year of free membership, or including more officers.  We decided to offer any past club president a free newsletter subscription.

Joel read the sections of the constitution regarding election of officers and the duties of each officer.  Elections are at the February meeting.

Nominations – President, Frank Phillips; Vice President, Bob Spear, Bob Sylvester, and Jim Burns; Treasurer, Steve Ferrency; Secretary, Mark Duckworth; Field Marshall, Duane Mallows and Al Fischer; Safety Officer, Ed Stapf and Joe Marrone; Newsletter editor, Dave Beach.

The meeting adjourned at 8:45, with a demonstration of an RC flight simulator on the computer, brought by Dave Beach.
