The Treasurer reported $3350 in the treasury and the club had 99 members as of June 30. Field Marshall Report The Field Marshall was not present but it was noted that the field is in very good condition with no problems. Safety Officer Safety Officer not present. No report or issues. Newsletter Nothing specific to report on the newsletter. Thanks to the efforts of David Beach, Frank reported that the new club website was up and running. The new listserv is in place with instructions in the newsletter on how to add your email address to the listserv. If you were on the old listserv, you were notified electronically with instructions on how to get moved to the new one. The website is very well done and presents a good image of the club. Old Business Joel was notified on very short notice of a Merrimack meeting to discuss possible recreational uses for the river frontage in Merrimack. He was unable to attend because of prior commitments but was able to notify several Merrimack members of the meeting. Bob Lacroix reported on the meeting. It appears that the Federal Government is encouraging towns to improve town-owned riverfront land for recreational purposes. A significant grant is available to the town to provide better access to the river by improving the road and the boat launch. The town is working plans to improve the road, move the bridge to access the boat launch on to town land which would move it closer to the south end of our field but also remove some trees in that area. There were assurances by the town that there are no plans to change the use of the land our field is on. The town continues to be supportive of the club. The next meeting of the Parks and Recreation committee is the third Wednesday of August at 7:30. Merrimack residents are urged to attend to represent our interests! July 4th events. Plans were finalized to decorate the float for the parade. A flying demonstration is also scheduled for 5:00 to 7:00 in the field between Mastricola and the High School. New Business Committee for fly-ins with other clubs and the Club Picnic. Joel sought volunteers to organize and run the fly-ins with other area clubs and the Club Picnic. Joe Marrone and David Beach volunteered with several other members interested. The meeting adjourned at 1:20 to continue another excellent day of flying. |
