AMA Club #2417

Minutes of March 7, 2001 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 by Frank Phillips.

President’s Report

Frank mentioned trying to keep the business part of the meetings short and spend more time on programs, such as the float building program we are starting tonight.

Treasurer’s Report

Treasury has about $4410, with 109 members, 83 paid members through end of January.

Field Marshall Report

There is some discussion about cutting some trees at the south end of the field.  One of the property owners definitely does not want any trees cut.  We plan to remove some of the contents of the container to prepare for sping floods.  The porta-potty might be temporarily removed.  Field not plowed yet.

Safety Officer

Joe read the safety officer job description.  One item is to check models for airworthiness.  But Joe said his concern over our members’ safety is more important.  Joe will be the safety advocate for the club.  He also wants everybody to be a deputy safety officer.  It is everyone’s responsibility.

Newsletter

Dave’s first newsletter was out on time.  He encourages contributions for the newsletter.

Vice-President’s report

Jim will start the club project tonight, building floats.  He also got an Eagle II kit to start building in the fall.

Old Business

Flea market date changed to April 28th, at the church.  Note the new date.  9:00 – 1:00, setup at 8:30. $10 a table.

Bob has some volunteers to help with the float fly, still looking for a few more.  Needs a volunteer to lead the pit crew.

New Business

The officer’s will research to see if there are any club rules about officer’s power to enforce safety violations.  There was some interest in making sure the officers can enforce the rules.

Show and Tell – the event will be in the upstairs room at the church, at the next meeting.  To be considered for an award, entries must be models that have not been flown.  But models that have been flown are welcome to be shown.

We voted to give founding member Dick Stuke a free lifetime membership.

The combination of the locks at the field is changing.

The budget will be presented for approval next time.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15.
