AMA Club #2417

Minutes of November 7, 2001 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:39 by Frank Phillips.

Three new members introduced themselves.

Vice-President’s report

Jim is arranging for Jim Jackson to talk to us about noise reduction, we hope he comes tonight.  (He did).

Treasurer’s Report

Treasury has about $5060, with about 126 paid members.  Sold about 150 gallons of fuel this year.  Raffle tonight is a trim sealing iron.  Steve is collecting membership renewals.  Remember you get a $5 reduction on dues if you take the newsletter via email.

Field Marshall Report

The windsock disappeared, so Al got a new one.  Perhaps we should put the windsock in the container after use.  We have lost one or two per year.  We decided to make it as permanent as possible.

The stove also was vandalized, and it’s in pretty bad shape.  One member said he will bring a new barrel to the field, and Dwayne offered to help with repairs.

We don’t need to mow any more this year, so Al is sending the mower to Lowell Tech for service.

Newsletter Editor

Keep the contributions coming, for the newsletter and website.

Safety Officer

We’ve had a lot of events, and things went well at Toys for Tots and the Gremlin contest.  Joe mentioned we have mandatory safety rules and a set of recommendations.  If anyone has any questions about the rules, please see Joe.

Other Business

Frank reminded us we are not to fly glow or gas powered planes before 10:00 am.

If you want a club jacket, see Frank.

Dave thanked everyone for participating and helping with the event.  We made money on the registration and selling food.

Yankee swap at December meeting, if you want to participate bring a wrapped item around $15.

Mark Versprille volunteered to CD the frozen fingers fun fly, tentatively Sunday, Jan 27th.

Awards banquet, tentatively a Sunday in January, probably around $25.  Price has gone up a little.

Dave suggested getting a work party together to clear some trees on the far side of the brook.

Joe suggested getting one of the new autopilots for the club plane.  Jim described some drawbacks of the one he has tried.  Jim thought it would not be appropriate for the club plane.  Joe will look into it more.  Perhaps consider a gyro instead.

The meeting adjourned at 8:20, for the raffle and a discussion on noise reduction.
