AMA Club #2417

Minutes of October 2, 2002 Meeting
By Mark Duckworth

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 by Frank Phillips.
About 20 members and five new members and guests were present.

President’s report

Frank said he’d like to see more activity on the club email list.  So if you have questions about flying, or announcements, send that email!

Vice-President’s report

Jim asked for volunteers to help run Eagles Cup events.  It doesn’t take much time or planning.  Bob Lacroix volunteered for December.
He also noted a need for more help from instructors.  And proposed for next year to have more time allocated for instructing, with fewer instructors and students at the field at any one time.

Treasurer’s Report
Treasury has about $5050, with 124 members. Jim is now stocking both airplane and helicopter fuel at the field.  Helicopter fuel has all synthetic lubricants, airplane fuel has some castor with less synthetic.

Field Marshall Report
Field is good.  Some more damage to the signs and some broken glass in the entranceway.  Porta-potty is still upright.

Newsletter Editor
Correction – Maine float fly is Oct 20, not 13.  Dave said newsletter contributions are always appreciated.

Safety Officer
Safety officer was not present.  Jim told of an incident where a plane got loose on the ground and hit a car.  Remember to use some kind of secure restraint.

Other Business
Fall clean up is Sunday November 3rd.
Frank presented the Eagles Cup award to Dave Beach (only 9 months late).
Bob Spear gave a recap of the float fly.  The caterers want to come back next year.  We’ll have them come, if they are willing.  Bob considered moving the event to a different date next year, but whenever it is it will conflict with something.  Many pilots were glad there were fewer pilots there this year, because it was much easier for them to fly.  Next year we might plan for a smaller, low-key event.
Mark Versprille talked about the Toys for Tots event this weekend.  He got volunteers to help move some stuff on Friday.  The sound truck will be there.  Mark said he would be cooking food.  We’ll be setting up everything on Sunday morning.
Furball combat event in Hudson on October 26.
Club auction, members only, of donated airplane stuff will be at the church (if available) 7:00 pm Wed. October 16.
