Minutes of October 3, 2001 Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 by Frank Phillips. Several new members and guests introduced themselves. Treasurer’s Report Treasury has about $5100, with about 120 paid members.
Took in about $270 from float fly, plus made about $50 from food.
Overall, just about broke even. Raffle
tonight is a CG machine. Membership
renewals – now have a new form, which will be included in the next newsletter. Field Marshall Report Al fixed up the frequency board, it looks great.
He is also working with the porta-potty people to get some things fixed. Newsletter Editor Keep the contributions coming. Safety Officer One landing at float fly was dangerous, landed on land instead of water.
Joe wants to talk to the new members at the field, one on one, just to go
over the safety rules. Vice-President’s report Next month, Jim will arrange a presentation about making planes quieter. Other Business Float fly – about 36 pilots, attendance was down a bit, but everyone had a
good time. Everybody got plenty of
chance to fly. Toys for Tots – Mark asked for and got volunteers with a pickup truck to
bring equipment to the field on Friday. Also
looking for an announcer for the event. A
Gremlin contest has been rescheduled from the 14th to the 13th
to not conflict with our event. We
have four instructors planning to bring trainer planes for demo flights.
Frank asked for as many members as possible to come to the event, at
least for the field dedication at 12:30. Frank talked about enforcing the noise limit.
The club bought a sound meter, which will be kept at the field.
Please use it at the field and leave it in the container.
We will start enforcing our noise limit in 2002.
Please use the time between now and then to check your noise level, and
fix any that are over the limit. Frank talked about the desire to buy a banner with the club name and logo for
displaying at events. We are also
going to investigate buying our own PA sound system. We talked again about how to try to get more people to help out when help is
needed. For some jobs, it might
make sense to call people and ask them specifically to help out. We talked about ideas for leveling the field.
We plan to get a quote for filling in some of the low spots in the field.
Perhaps also use a roller when mowing the field after the flood in the
spring. Al asked if anyone is interested in working with him on the Delta Dart
program with Nashua students. The meeting adjourned at 8:45, for some more plane building demonstration. |
