AMA Club #2417

Minutes of September 5, 2001 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 by Frank Phillips.

Two new members and two new guests introduced themselves.

Frank said his Adelphia cable modem has been up and running for 3 weeks, a new record.

Treasurer’s Report

Treasury has about $5200, with about 118 paid members.  Steve has blue club caps for sale, and a raffle tonight.

Field Marshall Report

Al said the field is in good condition.

Newsletter Editor

Dave asked for contributions, always appreciated.  The Rochester club reprinted our pre-flight safety checklist in their newsletter.  Next newsletter deadline is September 21.

Safety Officer

Good news, no reports of any accidents

Vice-President’s report

Jim talked about the club plane we are building at the meetings.

Other Business

Frank talked about how smoothly the new club by-laws and rules passed, after much work by the officers to get it ready for the members to discuss.  Notable changes were increase in dues for seniors, and a credit if you don’t receive the newsletter by mail.

Club picnic was a success, a lot of fun.  About 16 kids in the glider contests.

Float fly – we have a caterer for Sunday, but not Saturday.  Several people volunteered to cook and serve on Saturday.  Mark D. offered to donate a grill to the club.

The PA system we’ve been using does not work well.  We will consider if the club wants to buy our own PA system.

Toys for Tots – The Merrimack Board of Selectmen are holding a dedication of the Drobysh-Patterson field during the event.  WNDS TV is sponsoring us with public service announcements.  Mark V. will sell T-shirts at cost to anybody who works at the event.  Mark gave us more information about the event.  The club authorized Mark to spend $100 for some prizes to give away.

We have a neighbor at the field who has been bothered by the noise.  The officers will discuss how to address this.

Jim is collecting members’ radio frequencies for his list.  Jim asked for anyone interested in float flying on the Merrimack river to let him know, and he’ll arrange another float fly day.

The meeting adjourned at 8:40, for some more plane building demonstration.
